7 Spring Cleaning Tips for Your Home

Man cleaning the windows.
Time to gear up for spring! For most people, that also means spring cleaning. If you fall in that “most people” group, enjoy these tips!

Fresh smelling rooms.

Instead of buying an air freshener to put in each room, simply attach a dryer sheet to the back of your air vents. It’s easy to switch out for a new one and will probably last longer than a plug-in!

Put those orphan socks to use.

Are socks missing their other half? Use it to dust your blinds, banisters, and other hard-to-clean areas. This is one of those rare times that your kids might even offer to help. They can make sock puppets to clean up the dust around the house!

Lint rollers aren’t only for lint.

If you have pets, you know that hair is hard to clean off certain surfaces. Run a lint roller over your couch for an easy way to grab all of it. They are also great for dusting lampshades!

Don’t drink the cola.

Most people have some type of cola sitting around in their pantry. Pour it around the rim of your toilet to help clean. The best part is the cola can be flat, and it will still work!

Grout stains will fade away.

Combine bleach (or hydrogen peroxide) and baking soda until you get a paste-like consistency. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Now grab an old toothbrush, and scrub away! Wait another 5 minutes, and then you can wipe it off.

Steam away the gunk.

Combine a few cups of water and a couple of teaspoons of vinegar in a microwave-safe bowl. Place it in the microwave and heat it until it is steaming or boiling. The cooked-on mess should easily wipe off after!

Plastic bag to the rescue.

Showerhead not giving you the water pressure you’d expect? Fill a plastic bag with vinegar and secure it over the showerhead with a rubber band. Leave it for a few hours, and it should be good as new!
